Mr. Timothy Stephen Harper, affectionately known as “Tim,” was born on May 9, 1969, in Sparta, Georgia, to the loving parents of Willie Lee Harper and Eva Mae Harper. As the youngest of thirteen children, Tim held a special place in the hearts of his family. He was lovingly spoiled by his older siblings and was affectionately known as everyone’s baby.
Tim received his education in the Hancock County School System and graduated from Hancock County High School in 1988. A dedicated and hardworking man, he began his working career while still in high school. Throughout his life, he was employed by several companies, including Haband, Horton Homes, and Rheem. His final place of employment was the Putnam County Charter School System, where he enjoyed making a positive difference in the lives of children. Tim took great pleasure in bringing smiles to the faces of the children he encountered each day, leaving a lasting impression on those around him.
Tim was also a proud member of Putnam Masonic Lodge #170.
Tim had a deep passion for sports and athletics. He could spend an entire day watching basketball and football, especially when his beloved University of Georgia Bulldogs were playing. His love for sports extended beyond the television screen, as he was also an enthusiastic supporter of Georgia High School Athletics. Tim would travel throughout the state of Georgia to watch a good football or basketball game. His enthusiasm for sports was a special part of who he was and a joy he shared throughout his life.
In 1990, Tim met the love of his life, Ursula. Their love blossomed, and from their union came one beloved son, Cameron S. Harper. Tim cherished his family and leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations.
Tim was preceded in death by his loving parents, Willie Lee Harper and Eva Mae Harper, and his brothers, Ronnie Harper, Clifford Lundy, Melvin Harper, and Leroy Harper.
Tim leaves to cherish his memory his beloved Ursula; his son, Cameron S. Harper (Jasmine); and his two cherished grandchildren, Naomi, affectionately known as “Mama/Bug,” and Christian Harper, lovingly called “Cool Dude/Steve.” He is also survived by his sisters: Lillie Harper Ingram, Sallie Marie Zeigler (Alton), Carolyn Patterson (George), Susie Ella Davis (Lewis), and Amigine Harper. His brothers include Tommie Lee Harper, Sr. (Ann), Charlie Lester Harper, and Willie Albert Harper (Burnell). He also leaves his aunt, Sallie Bell Pearson; his mother-in-law, Johnnie Mae Pounds; and his sisters-in-law, Thelma Lundy and Debra Waller. In addition, he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives who will continue to cherish his memory.
Tim’s memory will also be treasured by his special friends: Rory Richardson, Christopher James, Stetson Birston, Woodrow Monday, Anwah Jones, Anthony Maddox, and Brian Crawford. Special thanks to Nathan Brightwell for being Tim's medical escort.
Tim’s life was marked by his love for family, his strong work ethic, his friendships, and his passion for sports. From being the cherished youngest of thirteen children to becoming a devoted father and proud grandfather, Tim touched the lives of many through his presence, his kindness, and the connections he made along the way.
Though his earthly journey has ended, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will forever remain a treasured part of his family.
