Mr. Oscar William Barnes was born on August 28, 1962, in Sparta, Georgia. He was the fourth of six children born to the late Curtis and Rosetta Barnes. He attended Hancock Central High School and graduated in the class of 1980. Oscar went on to attend Atlanta Area Technical College and studied as a HVAC Technician.

Oscar was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Valeta Parker in January 1988. God blessed this union with a son, Antwon L. Barnes, and a daughter, Latasha R. Barnes.

He began his professional career as a printer/pressman operator through word of mouth based solely on his hard work, humility, and character. He was proud to say he never needed to complete a job application. Oscar began his early career with HD Printing, serving over 20 years and retired from Sull-Graphics Printing after over 17 years of service. Although if you knew him, he held so many more positions such as his personal favorite, mechanic, contractor, landscaper, painter, and handyman. Simply put he was whatever you needed him to be.

Oscar learned how to drive at an early age and developed a love for Oldsmobiles. His mother gifted him his first car, a red and white 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. To his collection he added a blue 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass that he turned into a manual 442. Additionally, he hand-built a white and black convertible 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass from the frame up. His love for classic cars led him to join the South Dekalb Street Rodders where he gained a lifelong extended family.

Oscar joined St. James CME Church in his formative years. He loved St. James with all of his heart. He served faithfully in the Deacon's Ministry. Oscar drove from Atlanta every 2nd and 4th Sunday until his health declined. His courageous spirit and positive attitude toward life gave him the tenacity to help others and gave him the determination to make a difference. He was always there for those in need through his thoughts, words, SMILE, and ever so many kind and selfless deeds.

God embraced Oscar in His arms and enfolded him in His love on November 12, 2025, at which time he quietly departed this life at his residence in Lithonia, Georgia.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his devoted children, Antwon L. Barnes and Latasha R. Barnes and his only grandson, Jeremiah W. Barnes; four sisters, Agnes ( Michael ) Freeland, Alma ( Ernest ) Richardson, Thelma Barnes, and Amanda Barnes; two brothers, Albert J. Barnes and Tiawan ( Renecca ) Barnes; bonus siblings, Celestine Young, Emanuel, Cherie, Jessie, Quincy Huff and Knakia Lewis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Special acknowledgments to his closest and dearest friends, Tommy Rawl, "Bebop" Hargrove, "Huck" Cody, Robert King and "Bruh."
