Obituary

Mamie Warren Lewis , born on January 20, 1948, in Sparta, Georgia, to the late Wilbert and Mamie Warren, peacefully passed away on July 10, 2025. She was called to eternal rest by God, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication.

A lifelong resident of Sparta, Mamie was a devoted member of 2nd Beulah Baptist Church, where she faithfully served her community for many years. Her devotion to God and the church remained strong until her health began to decline.

On November 27, 1972, Mamie was united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Melvin Edward Lewis Sr. Together, they were blessed with two children, Melvin Jr. and Makeisha, who were the light of her life.

Mamie attended Hancock Central High School and later earned her diploma. Affectionately known as " Lou " by her friends and family, she was admired for her honesty and warmth, never hesitating to speak her mind. Mamie dedicated over 30 years to Sparta's manufacturing industry, beginning her career at Duck Head. She later worked at Chipman Union in Union Point before joining SGD in Sparta, where she remained until her retirement after many years of faithful service.

Mamie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Melvin Edward Lewis Sr.; her son, Melvin Edward Lewis Jr.; her daughter, Makeisha Lewis Nelson (Darryl) ; and her precious grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kyndall Nelson. She will be forever remembered by her sisters Eva Mae Primas, Katie Freeman, Gladys Lamar (Calvin) , Gussie Pearson (Sanford) and brothers Jessie Warren (Ruby) , Robert Warren (Lavonia) , Willie Warren (Yvonne) , and brother-in-law Benjamin Lewis (Cora) . Mamie will also be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Special thanks are extended to the staff of Sparta Health and Rehabilitation, Sparta, Ga.

Mamie's vibrant spirit, unyielding faith, and dedication to her family will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

May she rest in peace.
